Bloggers and Sushi

Sushitreff12 A week ago the fabulous Sabi Sushi invited the local bloggers for some free raw fish and a good chat. So I'm plugging the place like mad. Great sushi! Sushitreff02 Sushitreff10 Sushitreff04 Sushitreff16 Sushitreff05 Sushitreff21 Sushitreff22

Love

Illustration by Vesle Serena over at Norwegian food illustrated.
A young survivor of the massacre at Utøya 22.07.11 was interviewed by CNN and answered this:

"If one man can show this much hatred, imagine how much love we can show together."

The quote has been resounding on my mind, Twitter and Facebook since.

The blogosphere has been nothing but love since our innoncence was so brutally taken away from us.

It helps.

Tilt Shift

It all started with this shot of Reykjavik by Kris Atomic.

And Veronica gave me an aha moment with this shot.

I was intrigued and found this tilt shift maker. And created this:

... and this

my street2-tiltshift

... and this. So much fun!

Tilt shift is actually a lens you can buy for your camera, but it can also be faked in photoshop. And very easily faked with the tilt shift maker.

Randomness

After I got spammed by Julie I found this note on Facebook. I wrote it over two years ago, but it might as well have been today. (Although spring is here, and I now have two boys)

I'm hanging out for spring
I don't like chain mails but I don't say no to a challenge
Creativity makes my head spin
I'm planning to go on an expedition or an adventure
My boy teaches me to live in the moment
Chatching out men with power makes me feel powerful
I can't see anything cruel without crying
I'm proud and subborn but I try not to be
I crave simplicity, but I create complexity
I'm always looking for somewhere else
I love writing poetry, but I'm mostly too restless to get them out
Coffee has the ability to make me happy
White wine makes me delerious.
I never finish learning
I give really great hugs
I become a reading monster when I get into a book
I don't have to think when I play mindless simple computer games
Music and moving makes me creative
I can lose myself in the moment
Sleeping is underrated
I crave routine, and I love to break it
I wear my heart on my sleave.
I trust.
Peanut butter makes everything taste good.
I have never smoked a sigarette.

What are your random 25 facts? Play along.

Support Japan

I'm definitely buying these from Eli Renate and her husband on one of my favourite blogs Sheneligans. All procedings go to support the tsunami victims in Japan. They are already in her Epla store. Such a great initiative, and they are seriously cute as well. Now, where's my credit card?

If All Else Fails ...

Felt like I needed a new header, and whipped up something in a hurry while Little Brother was sleeping. Uploaded it, and wtf? It was all fuzzy and pixelated. After exporting my header a load of times I decided to go back to my old header. Fuzzy too. Bugger blogger. Blogger bugger.

I was just about to throw my Mac out the window when I realised I hadn't googled my issues. I litterally wrote "can't upload header without being pixelated", and Google answered my prayers.

Thank you bloggy world! You all rock!

Love,

A very gratefull MissBuckle

New Banner

... and about time, you say. Realised I'd had the same one (with the same spelling mistake) since February. Coincidentally it's the same time I got pregnant, so it might have something to do with that.

Anyways, an autumnal banner it is.

Clearing Skies

I'm back. And so is spring. Today was warm and sunny, and I was pretty upset to be stuck in the office. I have to get myself some outdoor assignments in the week to come.

Had a relaxing week down south, and It was hard to get back into the blog-groove again. Hence the wait. Probably did me good.

Discovering Ones Talents

Blood-orange cupcakes. Just because I had some oranges going off.

I've been pondering a lot lately. Maybe it's the lingering winter that is still veiling spring in its fluffy cotton white. Maybe it is my age. Maturity. Crossroads.

I really can't shake the feeling that good things are coming my way. And boy do I deserve them.

It feels like it all started on my audition to Masterchef. It opened up something in me. Something that has made me feel like the sky is the limit. And although this feeling makes me restless, it is also amasing to feel the same was as I did at 18. Ready to start my life. All options open. But with life wisdom to boot.

And I'm actually pretty set. Permanent job. Permanent house. Permanent family. The last attached to me, not the house and the job.

Things, I say. Things are disposable. Family is not.

I guess it is about confidence, somewhere along my way I lost it. And now it's back. With a boom. At least sometimes. And most of the time I can conjure it when I need it. Remind myself how I mastered this, and that.

And I realised a lot of it is connected to the blogosphere. The beautiful kindred souls that bother to comment on a complete strangers blog. Indulging in the narcissim. And I indulge right back. Cause you all feel like friends.

Julochka has brought the crafter out in me.
Spud the photographer out in me.
Molly and Trinch the baker out in me.

And countless blogs in my Google-reader continue to inspire me with their talent, creativity and guts. I learn something every day, just because people are taking the bother to share.

And talents. Yes, I will nurture them. The baking, the sewing, and especially the photographing. Cause it is doing me good. It's making me feel like I'm connected.

I had a beautiful email today telling me to keep it up. I promise. I will.

Technical Difficulties

I'm in a bit of a frizz.

My photo-uploader is giving me all kinds of error-messages, its favourite being "Unable to upload file because the site has exceeded its file upload quota." the one in blogger in draft sais: "One or more of the files you selected could not be uploaded. They may be too large or not valid image files. Please check the files and your internet connection and then try again.".

Julochka has kindly acted as tech-support, as Blogger is ignoring my pleas. Have tried her suggestions with no success. Does anyone else know how to fix this glitch?

Heeeelp.

Today I Saw

... a lovely postcard from Jill Wignall in my postbox.

Jill draws one postcard a day of an observation she's made. I love her little every day glimpses in blck and white. I've been following her blog for a few months now, and when she asked readers to send in their address for a postcard all of their own I jumped at the oppertunity. And here it is on her blog.

My Random Seven

I got tagged by Nancy at BLissed-Out Grandma (can you see what it spells?) The beautiful blogger award is an honour. And she always leaves these lovely comments on my posts. I'm short cutting. Giving you guys seven randoms that I posted with my self portrait on Flickr.

1. I don't need to wear full make-up for self portraits. The preassure of there being half an hour left of the day to do my 365 project is pressure enough to make me do it anyways. And pasty wintery skin looks cool when you mess up the colours after.

2. I'm seriously self concious as to if you all like this. I guess  I'm more of a comfort-zone girl than I like to admit.

3. I'm not very good at treating myself with the same kindness and understanding that I do others. I'm definitely working on it.

4. I get really upset when treated unfairly. I've grown up in socialist-Norway and expect everyone to get the same chance.

5. I like to think I'm environmental and all eco-choice, but I really love driving fast with Beastie Boys blaring in my little car.

6. I'm a collector, I give things personality, and I keep having to remind mself they are only things.

7. I want to make a difference.

And I'm tagging the beauties below. But no pressure. No homework.
